日本の杉の木目の美しさをどれだけの人がご存知だろうか。
日本の杉ほど美しく、面白く、多様な木目が表れる木材はなかなかありません。
杉の木目は遥か昔から、建物に趣向をこらし日本的な美を追求したその時代の権力者や数寄者たちを常に魅了し続けてきました。

茶室などの数寄屋造りの建物においては杉材の良し悪しで建物の完成度が決まってしまうと言っても過言ではありません。

杉は産地によって木目が全く異なり、屋久杉、霧島杉、魚梁瀬杉、北山杉、吉野杉、春日杉、山武杉、日光杉、秋田杉などが特に知られており、その木目はそれぞれ特徴的であります。

How many people are aware of beauty of the woodgrain of a Japanese cedar ‘Sugi’ ?
There are few other trees than Sugi shaping beautiful, attractive and diverse grains.

From ancient times the Sugi grain continues to fascinate a man of power and a man of refined tastes who elaborate an edifice.and pursue beauty of Japan.

It is no exaggeration to say that the perfection of such buildings built on the basis of architecture ‘Sukiya-dukuri’ as a tea-ceremony house ‘Chasistu’ is determined by the quality of the sugi materials used.

Grains of sugi tress grown in different districts are completely different from each other and there are well-known sugi trees namely Yaku-sugi, Kirishima- sugi, Yanase- sugi, Kitayama- sugi, Yoshino- sugi, Kasuga- sugi, Sammu- sugi, Nikko- sugi, Akita- sugi , etc., having their own characteristic grains.

The goods, which we have produced enthusiastically and with care by the use of the timber cut-out from the cedars selected carefully one-by-one by the craftsman having full knowledge of precious woods of cedar, all show a beautiful grain.

杉の銘木を知り尽くした職人が一枚一枚厳選して「木取り」した杉材で丁寧に作った本製品は、どれも素晴らしい木目がでております。

一枚の杉板から次々に切り取った四枚の杉板で箱の側面を作ることにより、側面の木目が 繋がったままでぐるりと一周しています。また拭き漆仕上げとなっており、外側だけでなく、 内側も拭き漆を施すことで、杉材の強度を上げております。

You realize that the surface grain surrounds the side plate of the box completely when the side plates are made of four pieces of the timber cut out continuously from one sugi material. The surface of all goods is finished by‘urushi‘ coating.
The inner surface as well as the outside is lacquered by urushi, which is effective to improve the strength of the sugi timber.
